Take care of your safety and environment during Christmas time
Christmas is a time for relaxing and togetherness, but remember also to take care of your safety and environment.
- Open fires and candles: Do not leave candles or open fires unattended. Open fires are not allowed on balconies or in private yards at all. Use non-flammable bases and place candles at a safe distance from flammable materials.
- Electrical appliances: Turn off Christmas lights and other electrical appliances when you are not at home or when you go to bed. Only use outdoor lights in outdoor areas and on balconies. Ensure that you have a working fire alarm at your home.
- Ham fat: Do not pour ham fat down the drain! Hot ham fat is liquid, but when it cools down, it may clog the pipes. Cool the fat, put it in an empty milk can, for example, and dispose of it with biowaste when it has solidified.
- Food scraps: Food scraps belong in the biowaste container, not in the toilet or sewer.
- Aluminum tins for Christmas dishes and foil used in cooking belong in the metal waste collection.
- Gift wrapping: Gift wrapping and strings belong in mixed waste, not in waste paper collection.
- Please be considerate of your neighbors and pets during Christmas and New Year when it comes to noise levels and fireworks. Fireworks must not be set off in the property yard. Remember to use appropriate safety equipment and clean up after yourself.
