Hazardous waste and usable items for recycling – collection trucks hit the road this autumn
Residents of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and Kirkkonummi will once again have the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous waste and donate reusable items this autumn when HSY’s and Kierrätyskeskus collection trucks tour the area.

HSY’s Sortti collection truck will collect hazardous waste from 15 September to 20 October 2025
HSY’s Sortti collection truck tour begins on 15 September and runs through 20 October 2025. The route covers Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen, as well as Kirkkonummi.
The truck accepts household hazardous waste free of charge, including energy-saving light bulbs, paints, solvents, cleaning chemicals and batteries. Residents may bring up to 200 litres waste, roughly equivalent to one refuse sack. Larger quantities must be taken to a Sortti Station.
Other types of waste are not accepted. The full list of stops and schedules is available on HSY’s website (in Finnish): Syksyn Sortti-keräysautokierroksen aikataulut julkaistu – HSY.
Kierrätyskeskus collection truck will collect items for reuse from 18 August to 29 October 2025
Kierrätyskeskus collection truck will also be on the road starting in August. It will operate between 18 August and 29 October 2025 in Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen and Kirkkonummi.
The truck accepts, free of charge, clean and intact household items suitable for reuse, such as small household goods, clothing and textiles. It also takes in small electronics and bicycles, regardless of condition.
Schedules and stop locations can be found on the Kierrätyskeskus website: Autumn collection tour – Kierrätyskeskus.
Easy environmental actions in everyday life
The collection trucks make recycling easier for residents and encourage environmentally friendly choices. Proper disposal of hazardous waste reduces environmental risks, while donated reusable items get a new life instead of ending up in the trash.
Thank you for helping the environment by recycling.
